Welcome to day 2 of the Confusion-to-Clarity 3-Day Online Workshop.
Today we are going to talk about gratitude and where we are today in our lives; but let’s first review a little about yesterday’s exercise. Our goal by the end of today’s exercise is to have written out a list of what you are good at, what you love to do, and to appreciate the incredible human you are!
Yesterday we worked on defining all of the life experiences, decisions, and people that have created the person you see before you.
Every person you have met, every conversation you have had, everything you have read and watched, and every decision you have made has created the person you are today. I want you to celebrate that!
The person you are today has incredible tools and resources to help other people, but we just have to recognize and become conscious of them.
So today, we are going to work on identifying who that person is and being grateful for that person! You are an incredible human!
There is nobody else like you on the planet with your life experience, with your gifts, and with what you have to share with the world.
Life is truly happening for you, not to you; so that means that even our challenging and negative experiences in our life are still teaching us valuable lessons. The problem is we don’t often take the time to realize and appreciate the person that we actually are.
We need to become conscious of who we are before we can get clarity to realize where we want to go. So that’s why you are going to do this exercise today to learn about who you are and what you love. When we can get things out of our minds and into the real world, we have a clearer view of exactly who we are, how we show up in the world; and it helps us to be grateful for the person that we already are.
Each of us have things we love doing, things that we are good at, and we have a value system. So today is all about identifying those elements of your life, getting them out of your head and writing them down on a piece of paper so we can take a bird’s eye view of it all.
Once we identify who you are, we are going to express extreme gratitude for that person before we move on to day 3.
WHAT IS GRATITUDE
Gratitude is an emotion for expressing appreciation for what we have. We can appreciate that we have a roof over our head, that we have food to eat, and water to drink. We can also appreciate the life experiences that have brought us to this very moment here today.
Even as I write this email, I’m grateful for my education and life experiences that have guided me and given me the skills to write this email. Gratitude is a feeling from within, and is independent of any monetary worth.
We can be grateful that we have $10 or $10 million dollars, but it’s still the same emotion of gratitude. It’s a feeling that we generate from inside where we appreciate everything we have today, not about what we are going to have in the future.
ASSIGNMENT 2
For today’s assignment, you should do the following:
1) Write down at least 20 things you are grateful for. It could be as simple as the air you breath and the water you drink. It could be your family, your friends, it could be anything. What makes you appreciate being here on Earth?
2) What do you absolutely love to do? What makes you forget about time, forget about your phone, and just live in the present moment? Write down at least 5.
3) What are you extremely good at and what are your gifts to the world? List at least 10 to 15 things you’re good at. This could be anything from being a good friend, being a writer, a photographer, having amazing leadership skills, etc. Just anything that you believe you do really well and people (including yourself) respect you for.
4) What are 10 of your values? Examples include things like being cheerful, joyful, integrity, connection, contribution, hard work, determination, discipline, etc.
5) Now look over this list and I want you to express gratitude for showing up, for spending the time and energy to do this exercise, and realizing that who you are today doesn’t determine who you will be forever. And if there’s anything you don’t like about your list, don’t worry, we are able to change it! But we first have to be grateful that we took the time to become conscious of this first.
6) Write a post today for Facebook or the social media platform of your choice and express gratitude for who you are, and what gifts you have to share with the world, and who you have in your life that can help support you on your journey. Please tag us in the post! If you are not yet ready to share this with the world, continue to share your Google Doc of these exercises with a close.
